In what already feels like the geological age before iMovie, GoPro, civilian drone technology and even WordPress blogs like this one made cinema-quality fishing movie making and distribution readily accessible to the masses…

.. American fishing writer and artist James Prosek visited England on a literary pilgrimage to fish (and film) in the footsteps of Izaak Walton, author of The Compleat Angler.

Besides fishing on Derbyshire’s Dove, Hampshire’s Itchen and the Kentish Stour, the resulting video features the Wandle Piscators’ own President Charles Rangeley-Wilson and some of his earliest work to camera, showing Prosek how to catch trophy chub and barbel on sweetcorn from Walton’s River Lea (from about 17:50)

Well worth watching in full, we think, and reminding ourselves that even as one season hurries to its late-winter end, a new season of summer evenings on the Wandle and other rivers are just a couple of months away!
