The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is Europe’s largest youth sports festival.  It is now a season of events taking place over nine months including both School and Community Competitions across 30 different sports.  This year 23 London boroughs entered the LYG Angling Final.

Billy Reeder won the Senior match for Merton with 398lb 8oz of carp and his younger brother won the Junior match with 107lb.  Both lads used floating dog biscuit to devastating effect.

Billy’s catch is a new LYG record and it must be noted that the lake wasn’t fishing well. There had been a match on the lake the day before, the weather was hot and the sky blue which meant that most of the pegs struggled.  The silver medal was won with 81lb 12oz and bronze went to a bag of 58lb 2oz.
